Brewboys at Cheesefest 2010

Serving

Another festival and another appearance by Brewboys. It’s great they are having a craft brewer at an event like this. Hopefully it can help people to realise that beer is a much better match with cheese than wine is. Unless you are trying to sell bad wine that is. Stalls are there from small and large cheese producers alike with plenty of variety. i recommend a good cloth bound cheddar and something with some real bitterness and hop character.

Brewboys have been at the last couple of Cheesefests and have done well from all reports. It’s a fun event in the park with a lot of great food, wine and beer to try. I think it was a better event when it was at McLaren Vale as it wasn’t so packed. I guess if you are running an event like this you just want to get more people there. It’s still a lot of fun but you have to wait a bit longer for everything now days. This years event is on Sunday 17th of October in Rymill Park. Get There!

BrewBoys Fondue Evening 17 August

Fondue enchaînée

Another cool function coming up at the Brewboys on the 17th of August. I was thinking this was a throwback to the 70′s to match the Charger and GT lagers that have been released recently. However, I’m told that fondue has been making a comeback in recent years. Either way cheese and beer is an excellent combination and it sure sounds like a fun night to me.

There will be a cheese maker/lecturer along from TAFE to talk about cheese and the boys will be there to talk about beer. People always think wine and cheese but beer is a much better match unless of course you are trying to sell people bad wine. The fat from the cheese coats your mouth and the wine can’t penetrate it so you can’t really taste it properly. Beer on the other hand has carbonation and bitterness that can cut through the fat so you get to taste everything.

Hope to see you there. I’m going along.
